FEMALE students of Roan School of Nursing in Luanshya have lost their possessions after fire swept through their boarding house on Thursday afternoon.
The boarding house which is located in Luanshya at house number, 475 section 3 in Roan Township occupied 16 students.
circumstances behind the fire have remained unconfirmed.
According to a statement by Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer, Peacewell Mweemba, the house went up in flames as three of the students were sleeping while 13 others went to work at the hospital they are doing attachments at.
Some alert neighbors who observed thick smoke bellowing from some windows of the house and immediately alerted the sleeping students.
Upon discovering that three rooms were on fire, the students quickly escaped through the windows and later stood outside the burning house helplessly to await the arrival of the Fire Brigade.
Unable to allow everything burn to ashes, some onlookers braved heat and sneaked into the burning house to retrieve some property fro the rooms that had not caught fire yet.
But despite their best efforts, property worth K200,000 was lost on the fire.
