
POLICE in Lusaka have arrested three suspects in connection with an attack on a 28-year-old man in Mutumbi Cemetery yesterday.
The victim, from Obama area, was reportedly walking through the cemetery when he was accoste by six attackers armed with machetes and other weapons. The assailants stole K10,500 and a cellphone from the man before fleeing the scene.
Police, alerted to the incident, launched an investigation which led to the apprehension of three suspects by 16:00 hours that same day.
Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed the incident.
He said asearch also recovered one machete believed to be used in the attack.
Mwale added the whereabouts of the remaining suspects and the stolen items remain unknown.
“The victim is reported to be in stable condition,” added Mwale
Police have advised the public to exercise caution when visiting Mutumbi Cemetery and have assured the public of increased patrols in the area.
The investigation is ongoing.
