KETURAH Musonda has become the first Zambian student to earn a Russian Red Degree in Medicine from the prestigious People’s Friendship University of Russia (RUDN).
This milestone marks a significant accomplishment in the history of the university and serves as an inspiration for aspiring scholars worldwide.
Now, getting any degree in Russia is not for the faint hearted. The Russian educational system awards two types of degrees upon completion of studies.
This is the Blue Degree and the highly coveted Red Degree.
The latter is notoriously difficult to obtain as it is reserved for those who achieve consistent excellence with grades of A and A+ throughout their academic journey.
For foreign students, this challenge is compounded by the necessity to master the Russian language and undertake all coursework and examinations in it.
Musonda embarked on her academic journey in Russia seven years ago, navigating a host of challenges.
Adapting to a new language and educational system posed significant hurdles but her determination and resilience saw her excel in her studies.
Her exceptional academic performance earned her a place in Инкубатор, translated as incubator,
a residence for the elite group of the university’s brightest minds.
Throughout her tenure at RUDN, Musonda distinguished herself in various scientific Olympiads and contributed numerous research papers, showcasing her dedication to advancing medical science.
Her remarkable achievements culminated in the acquisition of her Doctorate degree.
Dr. Musonda’s success story is not just a personal triumph but also a source of inspiration for future generations of Zambian students.
Her journey hopes to motivate others to pursue excellence despite the obstacles they may face
