ZRA encourages taxpayers to embrace smart invoice system
THE Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) is urging all Value Added Tax (VAT) registered taxpayers to adopt the Smart Invoice system.
This system, officially launched in March by Finance Minister Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane, aims to improve tax administration and combat revenue leaks.
ZRA corporate communications manager Oliver Nzala said taxpayers who have already implemented Smart Invoice are encouraged to continue using it consistently.
He added that those yet to register can still use their existing invoicing systems for now.
To provide further details and answer any questions, the ZRA will hold a press briefing on Monday, July 8th, 2024.
“The briefing will start at 14:00 hrs and will broadcast live on ZNBC TV1 and the ZRA facebook page,” stated Nzala.
Smart Invoice offers several benefits for both taxpayers and the ZRA. The system grants real-time access to business transactions, preventing the use of fake invoices and ensuring only qualified entities claim deductions.
This, according to the authority ultimately reduces tax evasion and improves service delivery.
